Gracie & Zacary’s Wedding at Zonzo Estate, Yarra Valley
Zonzo Estate is one of those Yarra Valley wedding venues where the location does a lot of the work for you. The vineyard setting, surrounding hills and mix of indoor and outdoor spaces give a wedding photographer plenty of options without having to spend the whole day driving between locations.
Gracie & Zacary’s wedding at Zonzo Estate was a great example of why I enjoy photographing weddings here.
I’m a Melbourne wedding photographer who has photographed weddings across the Yarra Valley for many years, including weddings at Zonzo Estate. Knowing a venue makes a difference. I already have a good understanding of the spaces, the available light and the different options for wedding portraits, so I can concentrate on photographing what is actually happening rather than trying to work out the venue as I go.

One of the things I like about photographing weddings at Zonzo Estate is the variety.
There are opportunities for photographs around the grounds and vineyard, along with the architectural features of the property and the indoor spaces. That means the photography doesn’t have to follow exactly the same formula every time.
For couples looking for a Zonzo Estate wedding photographer, experience at the venue is useful for another reason. Wedding days rarely run exactly according to schedule.
A ceremony might run a little longer. Family photos might take more time than expected. Drinks might start earlier than planned. The weather might change. Rather than trying to force the day to fit a photography plan, I prefer to work around what is actually happening.
The result is a mixture of candid photographs, portraits and the important group photographs, without turning the entire wedding into a photography session.

For Garcie & Zacary, I photographed the wedding day and supplied the couple with approximately 500 edited photographs.

I always prefer couples to have a substantial collection of photographs from their wedding rather than receiving a small selection of heavily curated images. There are the obvious photographs that make it into a blog post, but there are also plenty of photographs of the people, interactions and smaller moments that help tell the story of the day.

Garcie & Zacary’s wedding also brought together a couple of wedding professionals I regularly enjoy working alongside.

Their wedding videographer was Stu from Stu Art Video Productions. I have worked with Stu on a number of weddings and his approach works particularly well alongside my photography. He uses a relatively unobtrusive, fly-on-the-wall style, allowing the day to happen without constantly putting a camera in front of everyone. Working alongside an experienced celebrant and videographer also makes a difference to the flow of a wedding. Everyone knows that the priority is the couple and the day itself, rather than turning every moment into a production.
